Age Eligibility: 14
to 18 with Parental consent
Dates: July 1-Sept 1, 2007
Waiver of Risk: Parents must sign a waiver of responsibility and
risk for the participant.
Registration: Minimum two week sessions or more are offered on a
first-come-first-served basis.
Program: Details of each session according to chosen skill areas
are individually developed with the participant, the Ranch manager, and
parents. Commitment to reachable outcomes are an important aspect of
program development.
Time Lines: Completion of the proposed program is dependant
on natural circumstances, ie: weather, and tourism dynamics relating to
guest ranch management. Fix and repair aspects of Ranch
Management are sometimes unforseen, and can affect daily schedules.
Safety: The conducting of all programs, schedules, and
tours, and decisions made regarding Ranch
management relates specifically to safety as a top priority for all
people and animals involved. Participants are responsible for their own
gear, clothing, bedroll and basic essentials.
Instruction: Ranch owner Anne Schuster is a Certified Educator,
with over 15 years secondary school teaching experience, and 23
years experience in the Guest Ranch industry. She has over 30 years
experience raising and training horses, and teaching horsemanship
to guests, and participants in the Adventurer Youth Horse
Camps. Anne has been licenced with Federal Parks Canada as a
Backcountry Guide and Outfitter, for 23 years. Guest instructors are
also periodically invited to share their skills as farriers,
outfitters, and outback guides.
Registration: Call or email your interest to register, with any
questions, details on dates and skill areas chosen.
Fees: If a Youth Ranch Apprentice is to participate in the
Adventurer Youth Horse Camp for the 7 day session, a fee of $535. is
charged. This creates a cash pool from which board costs are covered,
and money can be earned back as an honorarium for participation in
commercial tours on a per tour basis. A 10% commission. is also offered
to all participants who actually book rides for the Ranch.
Non-participants in AYHC will be charged $70 a week to cover costs. |
